Sanctuary Scotland’s rents will rise by 1.4 percent in July.
Our Board of Management supported the small increase after careful consideration of the financial pressures faced by our tenants at this time. The decision was not taken lightly but, unfortunately, a small rise is essential to continue providing our current level of services without reducing the reinvestment planned for our homes.
The decision is in line with last year’s rent consultation, which saw a majority of respondents want annual rent increases capped at a maximum of 3 percent for a three-year period. As happened last year, this year’s increase is based on November’s Retail Price Index figure (0.9 percent) plus an additional 0.5 percent. Tenants will get a letter with details of their new rent charge at least four weeks before July’s change takes effect.
