Apprentices across the Group’s operations in Scotland have come together to celebrate Scottish Apprenticeship Week (2 – 6 March).
Sanctuary Scotland, Sanctuary Maintenance and Sanctuary Students were represented at the day-long event at the West Park conference centre in Dundee.
The 11 apprentices who attended cover a range of roles and trades, from business administration to a joiner and electrician. Presentations from senior managers were followed by group activities, a quiz and a team building exercise.
Lynsey Brown, the Group’s HR Business Partner for Scotland, organised the event.
Lynsey said: “This is the first time we’ve brought all of our Scottish apprentices together and I feel it went extremely well.
“The regional managers from all three business areas got involved in the running of the event. The apprentices were given an opportunity to learn more about Sanctuary’s other areas of operation in Scotland.
“There were fun team activities and breakout exercises where the apprentices received information on our employee benefits platform My Rewards and the Time to Change mental health campaign. The apprentices were also encouraged to feed back on our apprentice programme and suggest things we can do better.
“Everyone got involved and it was great to see the apprentices’ confidence increasing as the day progressed. Apprentices are the future so it was great to set aside some time to show them that they are valued.”
Sanctuary’s award-winning apprenticeship programme was established in 2008. It has since supported almost 2,000 people into work, both directly and through our development partners.
